Push notifications through wallet passes get open rates above 85%, compared to roughly 9% for email and 20% for SMS. They reach customers when they're most likely to act, on their lock screen next to text messages and calls. Because they come through the native wallet app rather than a third-party app, they sidestep the notification fatigue that drags down other marketing channels.

Benefits

Key benefits

01

10x Higher Opens

Lock screen notifications get noticed because they land in the same stream as personal messages and calls. Industry data shows wallet pass notifications hit open rates above 85%, compared to roughly 9% for marketing emails. For a restaurant sending a Friday lunch special to 500 loyalty members, that's about 425 people who see the message, versus about 45 by email.

02

No App Required

Notifications go through the native wallet app already installed on every iPhone and most Android phones. Your customers don't download, maintain, or update a separate app. That clears the biggest barrier to push notification marketing for small and mid-size businesses, which usually can't justify the cost of building and running a dedicated mobile app.

03

Scheduled Sends

Plan campaigns ahead by scheduling notifications for a specific date and time. Handy for recurring promotions like Tuesday happy hours or Friday lunch specials you run every week. Set up a full month of campaigns on a quiet Sunday afternoon and let them send themselves, so you're not trying to remember to hit "send" on a busy workday.

04

Segmented Targeting

Message specific customer groups based on what they do. Send re-engagement offers to customers who haven't visited in 30 days. Give your top 10% of visitors exclusive deals. Nudge customers who are one stamp from a reward to come in today. Segmented campaigns beat broadcast messages by 3-4x in redemption rates because the message fits the recipient.

Process

How it works

1

Compose Message

Write your notification in the Revio dashboard. Keep it short and actionable. Wallet notifications read best at 50-100 characters. Include promotional text, a call to action, or a simple reminder. The dashboard previews how it will look on both iPhone and Android lock screens, so you can adjust the wording before sending.

2

Select Audience

Send to all enrolled customers, or narrow it down by segment. Filter by last visit date, total visits, current points balance, or reward status. You might target customers who haven't visited in 14+ days with a "We miss you" offer, or customers with 8 out of 10 stamps with a "You're almost there" nudge.

3

Send or Schedule

Send now or schedule for a specific date and time. Scheduling helps with time-sensitive promotions like lunch specials (send at 11am) or weekend events (send Friday morning). You can cancel a scheduled notification before it goes out if plans change. The dashboard shows the audience count before you confirm, so you know how many people will get the message.

4

Track Results

After sending, the dashboard shows delivery count, open rate, and click-through rate. You can see which notifications do best over time and sharpen your messaging. If you included a promotional offer, you can check how many customers redeemed it against visit data. Over time this tells you what lands with your audience and where to take the next campaign.
